Akshay Kumar is an Indian actor, producer and presenter. He is very much popular in all over the world for his acting and stunts. He is known as Jackie Chan of India. He also gained fame for his romance, drama and comic roles. He has worked in more than 125 movies in Bollywood, and has won many awards for his performance and skills in every role either negative or positive.

Early Life

Akshay Kumar was born on 9 September, 1967 in Amritsar in the Indian state of Punjab. His age now is 46. His real name is Rajiv Hari Om Bhatia. His father was an army officer and his mother’s name is Aruna Bhatia. He lived Mumbai. Akshay studied at Don Bosco School and then Guru Nanak Khalsa College in Mumbai.

After having black belt in Taekwondo, he studied martial arts in Bangkok, Thailand and worked as a chef and waiter. After coming back to Mumbai he started teaching martial arts, one of his students happened to be a photographer and recommended him to do modeling and gave him a modeling assignment for a small company. For his two hours posing in front of the camera, Kumar got 5,000, compared to his previous monthly salary of 4,000. That was one of the main reasons why he chose to be a model. One morning he missed his flight for an ad in Bangkok, he was so disappointed with himself. On routine he was visiting various film studios with his portfolio. At that evening he got a lead role in movie Deedar.

Professional Career

Akshay made his acting debut in 1991 with the film Saugandh. He first started working in action films and was particularly known for his appearences in feature films commonly called the Khiladi Series. Like:

In 2000 he started working in comedy movies as well like Hera Pheri. He played a negative role in movie Ajnabee and won an Award for Best Villain and IIFA Award in 2002. Akshay played a role of blind man in Aankhen.

After being engaged twice to the daughter of Rajesh Khanna and Dimple Kapadia, he finally married to Twinkle Khanna on 17 January 2001. He have a son named Aarav which was born in September and a daughter named Nitarta, who was born on 25 September 2012.

in 2008 he was named as the Sexiest Man Alive by People (india) magazine.
