6. Essential Oils
Essential oils, such as coconut, pumpkin, lavender and rosemary oils, are natural moisturizer that hydrates the scalp and provide it all the essential nutrients to stay healthy and enhance hair growth. A recent study attempted to study the hair-related benefits of pumpkin oil, and the participants suffering from hair loss were administered 400mg of pumpkin seed oil every day for a period of 24 weeks.
The results revealed that the participants who took the pumpkin seed oil increased their hair growth by a whopping 40% as opposed to the participants who were given a placebo.
You must add essential oils to your daily diet and massage them onto your scalp, especially when you’re using a lot of hair washing and grooming products. You see, coconut oil has been scientifically linked with shielding the hair against protein loss. Research into the benefits of rosemary oil reveals that it not only enhances and promotes hair growth, but also prevents and eliminates scalp itchiness.
Seaweeds, such as cistanche tubulosa, a popular desert weed used in ancient Chinese healing practices and an eatable brown seaweed called laminaria japonica, contain a naturally occurring substance that enhances the growth of our hair. These seaweeds also prevent hair fall amongst people suffering from mild to severe hair loss conditions.
A study attempted to examine the hair loss prevention benefits of these two seaweeds and the participants were given supplements of laminaria japonica and cistanche tubulosa for a period of 16 weeks. The participants experienced a 27% increase in the thickness of their hair, alongside a 13% increase in the volume of their hair. Moreover, the supplement also turned out to be a highly beneficial cure for healing dandruff and scalp inflammation.
